Original documents from Greek mythology, Christianity and Islam alike all show the fig as playing a key role. Figs are the world’s oldest fruits, and should today still be part of every diet due to their balanced vitamin, iron, potassium and calcium content. The concentration of these nutrients is even higher in dried figs.
Leave the figs to drain, and pat dry. Make a cross-shaped incision at the top, and press them out. Crumble the cheese and pour over the figs. Place the figs on an oven-proof tray, and bake for around 5 minutes in a pre-heated oven (grill setting) until the cheese melts. Sprinkle crushed green pepper and pink peppercorns over the top. Drizzle the cheese with some honey, and serve hot.
